Woman Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting and Locking Up 13-Year-Old Maid in Imo

A 13-year-old domestic worker was allegedly assaulted, disfigured and locked inside a dirty storehouse by her employer in Egbeada, Imo State. A resident who reportedly witnessed the incident alerted a TikTok activist, who contacted the police. The girl was rescued and the woman was arrested. The case has renewed calls for Imo State agencies responsible for women and children to investigate and ensure the suspect faces prosecution. It also raises concerns about child domestic labour and the protection of children placed in other people’s homes.
