Bandit Raid in Sokoto: Father and 8-Year-Old Daughter Killed, 17 Abducted

Bandits launched a surprise attack on Garin Faji village in Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto State. They killed a man and his eight-year-old daughter before abducting 17 others and rustling about 50 cows. Residents told Daily Trust the gunmen approached on foot after parking their motorcycles at a distance to avoid detection. One witness said he heard sporadic gunfire around midnight on April 29 and hid in his shop until the attackers left. The victims include three men, several women and numerous children. Locals recalled previous raids and even a boat accident that killed about ten people as families fled. They say security presence in the area is almost non-existent and are appealing for urgent rescue operations.
