Hundreds Protest at RAF Fairford Over US Airstrikes on Iran
Hundreds gathered near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire to oppose US Air Force operations against Iran. The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament organised the demonstration, which saw protesters march from Fairford High Street to the military base. Speakers called on the UK government to withdraw permission for foreign strikes on Iran. Iranian-born campaigner Matzi Ansari described her family’s fear in Tehran, while Lindsey German from the Stop the War Coalition warned the crisis could spark a nuclear conflict. Local police and highways officials prepared road closures and emphasised keeping the protest peaceful. A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said all requests to use UK bases by foreign partners are assessed on a case-by-case legal basis.
