Lagos Police Arrest 39 Suspects, Recover 14 Pistols in August Crackdown

Lagos Police Command says it arrested 39 suspects and recovered 14 locally made pistols, a double-barrel gun, ammunition, knives, cutlasses and other weapons during operations across the state in August. The command said the arrests followed intelligence-led raids, stop-and-search operations, surveillance patrols and information from residents. Officers also recovered suspected cannabis, vandalised iron and cable materials, a laptop, charms and a truckload of spaghetti. Among those arrested were suspects linked to vandalism on the Coastal Road and Third Mainland Bridge, alleged cult activity in Surulere, Isolo and Ijeshatedo, and suspected armed robberies. Investigations are ongoing to identify accomplices and recover more stolen items.
