Army Chief Pledges Better Welfare for Troops at Eid-el-Kabir Celebration
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, commended the dedication and resilience of Nigerian Army officers and soldiers during an Eid-el-Kabir luncheon for troops of the 3 Division and Operation Enduring Peace in Jos. Represented by the Commander of the Armoured Corps, Major General Umar Abubakar, he stressed that sacrifice, obedience, compassion and commitment remain central to military service. He praised the troops’ efforts against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and oil theft. Shaibu paid tribute to fallen heroes and extended condolences to their families. He promised robust welfare improvements, including modern accommodation, enhanced healthcare, educational support for personnel’s children and tailored financial packages. He also highlighted the importance of strict discipline, inter-agency collaboration and peaceful coexistence across ethnic and religious lines. Shaibu thanked the President for his support of the Armed Forces’ welfare, operational effectiveness and growth.
