Operation Hadin Kai: Nigeria and US Airstrikes Decimate ISWAP Supply Hubs, Kill Senior Commander
Nigeria’s military, working with the US Africa Command, launched precision airstrikes on May 15, targeting Islamic State West Africa Province strongholds in the Lake Chad area. Strikes hit four major enclaves around Metele in Borno State, including Garin Abu Bilal (Sahel Garin Ba Bunu), Satir-Kanama, and Kwatan Fulani. Security sources report the death of senior ISWAP commander Abu Bilal Al-Minuki and three foreign fighters at Garin Abu Bilal. Five weapons-laden vehicles were also destroyed. Additional attacks demolished food depots, tax network hubs, a madrasat, a logistics warehouse with motorcycles and repair tools, and a commercial supply center. Sources say these operations have severely disrupted ISWAP’s leadership, supply chain, and mobility in the region. Casualty figures await official confirmation by Nigerian military authorities.
