Kaduna Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Co-wife to Death Over Sallah Meat Dispute
The Kaduna State Police Command arrested a newly married woman after her co-wife was found dead with severe abdominal injuries. The incident took place in Madachi B, Gwargwaje, Zaria, following a report from the community leader. Police spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan said officers rushed the victim to hospital where she later died. The suspect, identified as Amina Maharazu from Kano, is now held at the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and will face charges for alleged culpable homicide. The husband of both women told Daily Trust that the dispute began over the sharing of Sallah meat. He explained that the senior wife had arranged his marriage to Amina, only for her to accuse the senior wife’s children of receiving larger portions than her own child’s share. Community sources added that the suspect had a history of conflicts over minor issues, especially involving children. The late wife, known for her patience, had been married for many years and was mother to eight children and several grandchildren.
