Apapa LG Empowers 300 Residents with ₦100,000 Each in Phase Two of Palliative Initiative

Apapa LG Empowers 300 Residents with ₦100,000 Each in Phase Two of Palliative Initiative

The chairman of Apapa Local Government, Hon. Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo, has disbursed ₦30 million to 300 residents in the second phase of the ACREPEGED palliative scheme. Each beneficiary received ₦100,000 to help cushion rising living costs. The intervention targets 4,000 residents over the next 11 months. During phase one, 300 locals received ₦30,000 each. Senbanjo emphasised the nonpartisan nature of the programme, open to all Nigerians in Apapa regardless of political affiliation. Many beneficiaries used the funds for medical treatment and emergencies. The council said it will continue leveraging federal subsidies and state support to reach grassroots communities more effectively.

What impact do you think providing ₦100,000 each to just 300 residents will have on Apapa's broader community?

I dey notice say the scheme helps some people but 300 residents remain just a small fraction of those needing real relief.

That disbursement seems like political showmanship unless there's a clear plan to support the other 3,700 residents left out of this phase.

Local groups could partner with the council to document beneficiaries and ensure follow-up measures extend beyond one-off payments.
