Sunday Igboho Says He Hid Inside His Home Throughout 2021 DSS Raid

Yoruba Nation campaigner Sunday Igboho says he remained inside his Ibadan home throughout the DSS raid of July 2021, despite security operatives searching the property for him. Speaking during a visit by Muslim clerics, Igboho alleged that officers fired into his room, forced their way into the house and mistook a cat for him. He also dismissed rumours that he transformed into a cat to escape arrest. The DSS had said it recovered firearms and ammunition from the residence, arrested 13 associates and lost two of Igboho’s aides during an exchange of gunfire. The raid followed months of tension over Igboho’s Yoruba Nation agitation and allegations against some Fulani residents in Oyo State. Igboho was later arrested in Benin Republic while attempting to travel to Germany and was released after legal proceedings.

It is a serious allegation, but one account alone may not settle every question surrounding what happened during the raid.

A clear timeline and responses from all relevant parties would help the public assess the claims without relying only on competing narratives.
