From Pet to Profit: My Rabbit Farming Journey

From Pet to Profit: My Rabbit Farming Journey

I never planned to become a rabbit farmer. It began with one white rabbit at an Ibadan market named Superwhite. At first, it was just a pet. But chewing everything taught me a hard lesson. Curiosity turned into passion. I built a simple shed with wooden stands and a corrugated roof. Then I chose metal mesh cages for hygiene, easy cleaning, and long-term durability. I learned that cheap can be expensive. My three-layer cages hold 12 adult rabbits. This small setup became my foundation. Early lessons showed me that proper housing prevents disease and stress. Rabbits multiply fast if you’re unprepared. I’m sharing this journey to help you start right. You don’t need all the answers at once. Begin small, learn fast, and build good systems. Tomorrow, I’ll cover sourcing parent stocks and disease management.
