He describes living in a toxic household where his partner told him he was “worthless” and “a loser.” After a serious car crash in 2023, Lochte turned to alcohol and drugs to cope. He spent time in rehab in August 2025 and has since committed fully to therapy and sobriety. Lochte also addressed his divorce, confirming that he and his wife had grown apart. He sold nine of his Olympic medals to raise $385,000, but insists he is financially secure through sponsorships. He credits his new partner, Molly Gillihan, and support from Michael Phelps for helping him rebuild his life ahead of the couple’s move to Missouri in July 2026.
