NDC Confirms May 29 Primaries, Adjusts Activities for Eid-el-Kabir
The National Democratic Congress has confirmed that its Presidential, National Assembly, Governorship and State Assembly primaries will take place nationwide on May 29, 2026. Due to Eid-el-Kabir public holidays and resulting transport challenges, many aspirants and screening officials in Abuja are stranded. The party will use May 28 for arrivals, documentation with INEC and security agencies, and consultative meetings with stakeholders and elders. On May 29, primaries will follow this order: Presidential affirmation, National Assembly primaries, State Assembly primaries, then Governorship primaries. All results will be collated by the respective teams and forwarded to the National Headquarters, where the National Working Committee will make the official announcement. No state executive has the mandate to release results independently. The party calls on all participants to behave responsibly, emphasising that any unauthorised activities or disorderly conduct will be deemed illegal and not tolerated.
