NIPSS DG Calls for Peace and Unity After Plateau Violence
Kingsley Chukwuka reports from Kuru, Plateau State. In the wake of recent clashes in Jos, NIPSS Director-General Ayo Omotayo expressed deep sorrow for the lives lost. He extended condolences to the families and the Plateau State government during this period of mourning. Omotayo described the unrest as a reminder of fragile communal harmony and called for a shift from reactive security operations to sustained efforts at national cohesion. He praised the swift intervention of security agencies but warned that their presence is only a temporary measure. The DG urged residents to cooperate with security protocols and appealed to regional stakeholders to take joint responsibility for lasting peace. He stressed that genuine unity and dialogue are essential to prevent future outbreaks of violence.
