Norovirus Scare: Cruise Ship Quarantines 1,700 After Passenger’s Death
French health authorities have locked down the Ambassador Cruise Line vessel in Bordeaux following a suspected norovirus outbreak. A 92-year-old British guest died on May 10 before the ship reached port. Dozens of passengers and crew are now showing vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms. The cruise operator has stepped up cleaning, disinfection and hand-hygiene measures. All shore visits are cancelled until officials confirm the outbreak is contained. Similar viral incidents have been reported on other ships recently, including a hantavirus concern on the MV Hondius and a norovirus spread on the Caribbean Princess.
