Ebonyi Assembly Education Committee Commends ICT University VC, Calls for Continued Support

The Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Education, led by Hon. Nwodo Aloysius, praised the governor’s investments in education. They highlighted new staff quarters and technical equipment at ICT University Oferekpe during an oversight visit. Hon. Nwodo applauded Gov. Francis Nwifuru’s role in establishing ICT and Aeronautics universities to boost tertiary enrolment. He requested detailed data on staff strength and student numbers to ensure effective administration. Vice Chancellor Prof. Ernest Egba was lauded for securing accreditation for 20 programmes. He announced approval for 19 more courses for the 2026/2027 session, targeting 1,500 students with a 150 cut-off mark. He also shared that buses have been provided for staff and students and 183 students benefited from federal loans. The committee and university registrar called for ongoing support to sustain these developments and promote digital literacy across the state.

A regular audit of technical equipment and a clear maintenance schedule could help guarantee these recent investments keep serving students effectively.
