WAFCON 2026: Cameroon’s Ngock Named Best Player as Chawinga Wins Golden Boot

Cameroon midfielder Monique Ngock has been named the Best Player of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after an outstanding tournament for the Indomitable Lionesses. Malawi forward Temwa Chawinga won the Golden Boot after scoring five goals and providing two assists during her country’s historic maiden WAFCON appearance. She finished ahead of Zambia’s Barbra Banda, Côte d’Ivoire’s Ines Konan and Cameroon’s Marie Ngah, who also scored five goals. Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Bihina was named Best Goalkeeper following key performances, including decisive penalty saves against Nigeria in the quarter-finals. Algeria received the Fair Play Award.
