Tinubu Appoints Abel Enitan as Head of the Civil Service of the Federation
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 27, 2026. Enitan, the current Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education, succeeds Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is retiring after reaching the statutory retirement age of 60. He is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service and has held the position for seven years and seven months. His previous postings include the Ministries of Police Affairs and Humanitarian Affairs, as well as the Office of the Vice President. The President asked him to build on existing reforms and strengthen a professional, merit-based, accountable and efficient civil service.
