Benin City Youth League Fines Dynamo Academica ₦100,000 for Unauthorized Awards

Benin City Youth League Fines Dynamo Academica ₦100,000 for Unauthorized Awards

The Benin City Youth League has sanctioned Dynamo Academica after the club staged its own player awards on the official podium immediately following the league’s presentation ceremony. The league described the action as unprofessional and disrespectful to organizers, officials, sponsors, invited guests, and participating clubs. Following consultations with administrators and stakeholders, the league imposed a ₦100,000 fine on the academy and gave it 48 hours to submit a formal apology. Failure to comply will trigger further disciplinary measures. All clubs are warned that no parallel awards, medals, trophies, certificates, or cash gifts may be presented at any official ceremony without prior written approval. Future violations will attract harsher penalties, including possible suspension or forfeiture of privileges.

What impact do you think this fine will have on youth football clubs and their relationship with the league?

I agree, this penalty should push clubs to take league regulations more seriously and strengthen overall cooperation.

Labeling the club's award ceremony unprofessional feels heavy-handed to me, given they only wanted to recognize their players immediately after the league event.

I don't buy that fine will stop unauthorized awards, it might just discourage clubs from celebrating achievements, no be so

Leagues should outline clear guidelines for post-event ceremonies and communicate penalties in advance, so clubs can honor players without risking fines.
