Malami Alleges EFCC Carried Out Forceful Eviction from His Abuja Home

Former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami (SAN) says EFCC operatives stormed his family residence in Maitama, Abuja, and evicted them without a court order. He claims officers first arrived on Monday and returned the next day with heavily armed personnel to complete the eviction. Malami argues the interim forfeiture order did not authorize immediate removal or sealing of his property. Describing the action as “legally and judicially unprecedented,” he notes that his legal challenge is pending in court with a hearing set for April 20, 2026. Malami also hinted at possible political persecution, pointing out that the eviction coincided with a surge of goodwill messages he has been receiving.

Before talking recourse, he should confirm there really was no court order. Courts need clear proof.

It's interesting that such a high-profile figure alleges EFCC operated without a warrant, despite their strict procedural reputation.

Malami's team should demand an official explanation from the EFCC and seek legal oversight to prevent similar alleged abuses in the future.
