Afreximbank 2026 Internship Programme: Launch Your Career in African Finance

Afreximbank 2026 Internship Programme: Launch Your Career in African Finance

The Afreximbank Internship Programme 2026 offers a unique chance to gain hands‐on experience in a leading African financial institution. The six‐month positions run in January and June and require interns to relocate to Cairo. Participants rotate through key departments and work closely with dedicated mentors. Interns receive a monthly tax‐free stipend, return economy airfare, and a housing allowance. Arrival support includes a week of hotel accommodation and airport transfers. Visa assistance and medical insurance help ensure a smooth stay. Applicants must be high‐achieving undergraduate or postgraduate students in economics, finance, law, engineering, social sciences, statistics, or related fields. Eligible candidates are nationals of member states, students in the African diaspora, or non‐African students committed to Africa’s development. Age should range from 20 to 32 years, with fluency in English or French. Arabic or Portuguese skills are an advantage. To apply, complete the online form on the Afreximbank portal. Prepare a cover letter, ATS‐friendly resume, official transcripts, recommendation letter, one‐page statement of intent, and a valid passport. Shortlisted candidates receive conditional offers and should confirm within two weeks. Medical insurance and accident coverage must be arranged before the programme commences.

Seems like six months in Cairo might be too short to reshape your finance career or cultural outlook significantly.

It seems impressive on paper, but six months rotating through various departments might barely scratch the surface of real banking operations.

I'm not convinced every intern will get meaningful responsibility—many programs offer the same buzzwords without true decision-making power.

Prepare your documents early, research Cairo's living costs, and network with former interns to maximize this internship opportunity.
