Oroto Community in Ondo Rejects Government-Imposed “Sepeluwa” Oba Title
Residents and indigenes of Oroto Community in Ugbo Kingdom, Ilaje LGA, Ondo State have formally rejected any attempt to install the “Sepeluwa” title as their Oba. They insist that leadership decisions must reflect fairness, equity and respect for their ancestral customs. The community spokesperson stated that no historical record supports the “Sepeluwa” title within Ugbo Kingdom traditions. They’ve written multiple protest letters to the governor, the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs and local government officials, but say their appeals have gone unanswered. For peace and unity to prevail, the people demand inclusive consultations and adherence to established customs. They vow to defend their cultural identity and ancestral rights through lawful means until their voices are heard.
