Tinubu Approves National Health Technology & Data Analytics Office, Appoints Dr Obi Adigwe
President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the National Health Technology and Data Analytics Office (NHTDAO) and named Dr Obi Adigwe as its pioneer National Coordinator. The office will be housed under the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare. It will serve as a national platform to coordinate Nigeria’s digital health agenda, harmonise public and private institutions, and implement the National Digital Health Architecture. Dr Adigwe comes from the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development, where he secured major grants for nanotechnology, Africa’s first API training facility, and an €18 million EU grant. He also led groundbreaking research during the COVID-19 pandemic. A steering committee of top health and technology leaders will provide strategic direction. The presidency expects the new agency to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to a secure, data-driven health system under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
