8 Unbelievable Events in the Bible You Might Have Missed
I’ve come across Bible stories that seem almost unbelievable. Here are eight moments I find hardest to accept: 1. The three temptations of Jesus may have taken place in a spiritual realm rather than on a physical mountain (Matthew 4:1–10). 2. A blind man healed by Jesus initially did not gain sight. He returned later to be healed again with spit and mud. 3. When Elisha raised a widow’s son, he first prayed alone in the room before the boy revived. 4. On one occasion, Jesus vanished from an angry crowd that intended to kill him, as if he slipped out of sight. 5. In his conversation at the well, Jesus suggests his mission was first for Israel, not a universal rescue plan. 6. Some accounts say that any follower who entered Jerusalem faced the risk of death, including Jesus himself. 7. At Cana, Jesus’s first recorded miracle of turning water into wine comes without explanation of why. 8. I’ve noticed that Naomi and Ruth seldom appear as moral examples in sermons, despite their important roles.
