According to Vanguard, gunmen stormed the Ban community in Heipang, Barkin-Ladi LGA around 11 pm on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. They opened fire indiscriminately, killing two residents and wounding several others. One of the victims was a student of Plateau State Polytechnic, who later died from gunshot wounds. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The shooting sparked panic among polytechnic students, especially those living off campus, as residents and students fled in fear.
