Afenifere Defends Sunday Igboho’s Actions, Calls for Swift Security Reforms

Afenifere Defends Sunday Igboho’s Actions, Calls for Swift Security Reforms

Afenifere has backed Yoruba self-determination activist Sunday Adeyemo (Sunday Igboho) after his stand against kidnappers and criminals in the South-West. The group stressed that Igboho’s actions target criminals, not any ethnic community. It praised the president’s decision to send the State Police Bill to the National Assembly. Lawmakers and governors were urged to fast-track the legislation and equip state forces with training, technology and proper welfare. Afenifere rejected criticisms from northern organisations as politically motivated. The group argued that tackling insecurity requires addressing root causes like poverty, unemployment and illegal mining rather than ethnic profiling.
