Presidency Clarifies: Edun and Dangiwa Voluntarily Resigned, Not Sacked

The presidency has confirmed that former Finance Minister Wale Edun and ex‐Housing Minister Ahmed Musa Dangiwa resigned from their positions and were not dismissed. Edun, who turned 70 on his resignation day, stepped down on health grounds. In his letter to President Tinubu, he expressed gratitude for the chance to serve under the Renewed Hope Agenda and wished the administration continued success. Dangiwa also resigned and thanked the President for appointing him to the Federal Executive Council. The statement said President Tinubu commended both men for advancing economic and housing reforms. The President has instructed new Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele to build on ongoing fiscal reforms. He will soon forward the nomination of Muttaqha Rabe Darma as the next Housing Minister to the Senate.

Do you think their voluntary resignation changes how we view the administration's stability or transparency?

I agree. Their resignation might highlight transparency effort, but stability questions still linger.

How exactly do we know their voluntary exit says anything about govt's real stability?

It's interesting they highlight health reasons for Edun's exit, yet the timing feels convenient for a cabinet reshuffle.

I'm not sure framing this as voluntary doesn't downplay any pressure they might have faced behind closed doors.

Perhaps demanding clearer protocols for ministerial resignations could help prevent rumors and ensure smoother transitions next time.
