The Omenugha family gathered at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Nnobi to give thanks for Dr. Michael Cosmas Omenugha’s 70th birthday and Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha’s recent appointment as Vice-Chancellor of COOU. The service was led by three bishops and attended by Cardinal Peter Okpaleke, academics, community leaders and government officials. In his homily, Bishop Jonas Okoye praised the couple’s lifelong commitment to service and urged believers to live with purpose. Governor Chukwuma Soludo joined the celebration, commending Professor Omenugha’s role in combating exam malpractice and underscoring his administration’s merit-based appointment policy. Soludo also used the occasion to highlight environmental challenges in Anambra and update guests on plans for the new international airport. The week prior, the family hosted activities like a football match, fostering unity among friends and well-wishers. Professor Omenugha thanked God, attendees and the governor for their support, pledging dedicated leadership at the university. The thanksgiving concluded with prayers, tributes and a reception to honour everyone who contributed to the family’s milestones.
