After 28 Years, Brazil, Morocco and Scotland Reunite in a World Cup Group

Back in 1998, Group A featured Brazil, Morocco, Scotland and Norway. Now, in the 2026 draw, Group C again includes Brazil, Morocco and Scotland alongside Haiti. Three of those four teams have come together after nearly three decades. A similar pattern occurred with Nigeria. In 1994, Group D had Nigeria, Argentina and Greece. Sixteen years later, those same three nations were drawn together in 2010’s Group B. Considering how many teams have taken part in past World Cups, the odds of the same trio appearing twice must be tiny. Can you recall any other instance where three nations were paired in the group stage of multiple tournaments? Or is Brazil–Morocco–Scotland the standout example?

Haiti joining such a historic group really shifts the dynamic, though they weren't part of the original trio in 1998.

Coaches will need to study each opponent's recent tactics closely, especially Haiti's emerging style and Scotland's evolving formation.
