Kogi MP Warns Couples: Don’t Let Economic Hardship Destroy Your Marriage

At a special thanksgiving service in Abuja, Kogi Rep Leke Abejide urged couples not to let economic hardship break their homes. He spoke during a celebration of his wife’s 50th birthday and their 20th wedding anniversary. Abejide said strong marriages rest on love, understanding and faith. Citing Ephesians Chapter 5, he called for husbands to love their wives and wives to respect their husbands as the foundation for lasting unions. He noted that despite widespread economic worries, Nigerians continue building estates, buying vehicles and travelling abroad. “Don’t let temporary hardship destroy your home. Let God be your foundation,” he said. His wife, Deaconess Esther Abejide, attributed their two-decade marriage to patience, prayer and mutual understanding. Senator Sunday Karimi also praised the current economic reforms under President Tinubu and urged citizens to remain patient.
