Last week, Omoyele Sowore declared himself the only real opposition in Nigeria and downplayed Peter Obi and other candidates. Rabiu Kwankwaso then invited Obi to Kano, where a large crowd chanted his name. Sowore has now claimed that the Kano gathering was rented. He insists the turnout in Abia was authentic, noting he went there to protest for Nnamdi Kanu’s release, a cause popular in the South East. His remarks have intensified accusations that Sowore may be backed by the APC and President Tinubu. A recording of his comments is circulating online.
