Vincent James Russo is an American professional wrestling writer and booker who rose to fame in the World Wrestling Federation. Born on January 24, 1961, in Long Island, New York, he earned a journalism degree before training at Gleason’s Gym and hosting a local wrestling radio show. Russo joined WWF in 1992, became editor of its magazine and joined the creative team in 1996. As head writer of Raw is War, he shaped the Attitude Era, creating iconic angles like D-Generation X, Stone Cold versus McMahon and the rise of The Rock. After leaving WWF in 1999, he worked with WCW, returned briefly to WWE in 2002 and later joined TNA and other promotions. His “Crash TV” style remains controversial among fans.
