ADC Urges INEC to Prosecute Nafiu Bala for Alleged Portal Breach

ADC Urges INEC to Prosecute Nafiu Bala for Alleged Portal Breach

According to a recent report, the African Democratic Congress has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to take legal action against its factional chairman, Nafiu Bala. The party accuses him of falsely claiming he accessed INEC’s candidate nomination portal and uploaded names ahead of the 2027 general election. INEC dismissed the allegation and clarified that Bala is not the recognised ADC chairman and has no authority to act for the party on nomination matters. The commission urged that anyone responsible for spreading the claim be held accountable under the law. The ADC warned that allowing such claims to go unchallenged could undermine public confidence in the electoral process. It stressed that only officials officially recognised by INEC can carry out transactions on the party’s behalf.

What evidence would you expect ADC to present before INEC moves to prosecute Nafiu Bala for this alleged portal breach?

I couldn't agree more—solid logs and credible witness statements would really spice up their case.

It's curious the party is going public now, especially since no official portal logs have been shared to back up the claim.

Seems more like political posturing than genuine concern. No be say dem dey use breach claim to settle internal scores instead of actual electoral reforms.

INEC should promptly publish portal access logs and investigation findings, so parties can assess claims fairly and maintain confidence in the nomination process.
