Nigerian Man Jailed in UK After 100mph Police Chase

A 23-year-old Nigerian man has been jailed for 13 months in the United Kingdom after a high-speed police chase in Northampton. Police attempted to stop him on March 10 over an uninsured vehicle, but he allegedly drove off at speeds above 100mph. He reportedly ignored traffic lights and put other road users at risk. The chase ended after he became trapped in traffic near the Wilby Way roundabout and crashed into several vehicles. He later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and failing to stop for police.

Thirteen months is serious, but the frightening part is how quickly a traffic stop can put other road users at risk.

People may focus on his nationality, but the reported conduct and danger on the road are the real issues here.

If stopped by police, pulling over and dealing with the vehicle issue through proper channels is far safer than escalating everything.
