Ex-Leeds Shot-Stopper Illan Meslier Set To Join Arsenal on Free Transfer

Ex-Leeds Shot-Stopper Illan Meslier Set To Join Arsenal on Free Transfer — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Arsenal are poised to strengthen their goalkeeping options with the free signing of Illan Meslier, whose contract at Leeds United expired at the end of June. The 26-year-old French keeper missed first-team action last season but boasts 107 Premier League appearances. Meslier is expected to undergo a medical before completing his move to the Emirates Stadium. He will join as third-choice keeper, providing cover behind David Raya and Kepa Arrizabalaga after Leeds were unable to sell him last year. His arrival follows Arsenal’s permanent signing of Piero Hincapié and comes as manager Mikel Arteta prepares for potential departures like Leandro Trossard. The Gunners kick off their title defence at home to Coventry on August 21.
