ADC to Tinubu: Replace NSA Ribadu if Confidence Is Lost Instead of Creating “Homeland Security” Post
The African Democratic Congress has urged President Bola Tinubu to replace National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu if he doubts his ability to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges, rather than setting up a new “Homeland Security” office. In a statement, the party’s spokesman criticized the appointment of retired Major General Adeyinka A. Famadewa as Special Adviser on Homeland Security, calling the move redundant. They argued the title carries little meaning in the Nigerian context and merely duplicates existing roles. The ADC warned that creating a parallel office signals a lack of confidence in the NSA. It urged the president to take decisive action—replace Ribadu—to strengthen domestic security coordination amid rising unrest across several parts of the country.
