Suspected Antisemitic Petrol Bomb Attack on North London Synagogue
Two petrol bombs and a brick were thrown at Finchley Reform Synagogue in north London shortly after midnight. No injuries were reported and the building, which houses a nursery, escaped damage. A local witness described a loud explosion-like bang that drew police to the scene. Officers say two masked suspects in dark clothing fled in a vehicle captured on CCTV. Senior clergy condemned the attack as an attempt to intimidate the British Jewish community and vowed that worship and community activities would continue. A local MP also visited the site, calling the incident “shocking” and urging authorities not to let such violence become normal. Police have increased patrols and counter-terrorism officers are involved in the investigation. Anyone with information or footage has been asked to come forward as the Community Security Trust works closely with law enforcement.
