Ghana Police Arrest Man Accused of Posing as Pastor to Scam Women
Ghanaian police have arrested Nana Yaw Bonsu Kwarteng over allegations that he posed as a pastor on Instagram to target women with false prophecies and promises of marriage. Investigators say he gained victims’ trust by meeting their families and giving them promise rings. He allegedly obtained intimate images from some women, then used the images to blackmail them for money. Police also allege that he collected thousands of dollars from victims through a fake car-tyre import business. His wife, Sally Akosua Amoasah, is accused of helping to threaten some victims after receiving the intimate images. Seven people have reported the matter so far. Kwarteng was remanded after appearing before an Accra court, while Amoasah was granted bail as investigations continue.
