Lookman Makes Nigerian History as Vinicius Seals Real Madrid’s 3-2 Derby Win

Lookman Makes Nigerian History as Vinicius Seals Real Madrid’s 3-2 Derby Win

Ademola Lookman became the first Nigerian to score in a Madrid derby when he opened the scoring for Atlético at the Santiago Bernabéu. Lookman struck in the 33rd minute after a neat backheel from Giuliano Simeone, giving Atleti a 1-0 lead at half-time. Real Madrid responded early in the second half. Vinicius Jr. levelled from the spot before Federico Valverde put the hosts ahead with a deflected strike. Atlético battled back through Nahuel Molina’s 35-yard thunderbolt, but Vinicius curled in the winner late on. The result keeps Real four points behind Barcelona in the title chase.

E good that Lookman scored, but Atletico still showed defensive lapses by conceding twice after his opener.

Coaches should study Lookman's movement off the ball, it created space for Atleti's opening goal—valuable for scouting future talents.
