Australian PM Apologises After Saying He’d Have Sex with Kylie Minogue

Australian PM Apologises After Saying He’d Have Sex with Kylie Minogue

Anthony Albanese apologised after revealing on a podcast that he would have sex with pop star Kylie Minogue if his marriage fell apart. The remark came during an interview on the Bush Deep podcast when he was asked who he would marry, date or sleep with out of Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman and Rhonda Burchmore. Albanese said he had only been married six months and did not intend to engage. He later issued an unequivocal apology for his comments and admitted they showed poor judgment. Several Australian MPs criticised the prime minister’s response as inappropriate. The shadow communications minister described it as “gutter” talk that undermines trust, while another lawmaker said such remarks were beneath the office and sexist.

Alright, I admit it does show politicians feel free to spill personal opinions, blurring the private-public line without hesitation.

It's striking that he apologised only after the clip circulated, not when the comment was first made on air.

Politicians should get media training to avoid offhand remarks causing diplomatic or reputational damage once they spread online.
