Ian Wright Hails Jay-Jay Okocha as the Premier League’s Most Underrated Star
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has named Nigerian maestro Jay-Jay Okocha the most underrated player in Premier League history. Wright highlighted Okocha’s impact at Bolton Wanderers after joining on a free transfer in 2002. The Nigerian scored seven goals in his debut season, claimed the club’s Goal of the Season and helped steer them clear of relegation. Okocha later captained Bolton to the 2004 League Cup final, won Premier League Player of the Month in November 2003 and was voted Bolton’s greatest-ever player at the Reebok/Macron Stadium in 2017. Wright argues that Okocha’s flair deserved far more acclaim.
