Zulum Pledges to Inaugurate 400-Bed Teaching Hospital in Maiduguri within 60 Days
Borno governor Babagana Zulum has announced plans to inaugurate the multi-billion-naira, 400-bed Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital in Maiduguri within two months. He noted that over 90% of construction is complete, all medical equipment has been delivered and 350 staff have been hired. Zulum said the facility will operate on a sustainable fee model, making care affordable for the poor while ensuring quality. The governor stressed the need for full automation of billing and management for transparency and efficiency. He added that the hospital will serve Borno indigenes and neighbouring countries as a referral centre. During the visit, Zulum also inspected the 85%-complete 300-bed orthopaedic hospital on Dikwa Road and urged the contractor to finish within four months. He reviewed progress on the Maiduguri Industrial Hub road network.
