Military Highlights Recent Wins: Rescues, Arrests and Neutralised Threats Across Nigeria

I summarised recent operations by the Nigerian armed forces to counter criticism and show their sacrifices and successes. Last week, troops rescued 13 kidnapped passengers from Benue and arrested militia fighters in Plateau and Benue states. Security units also intercepted a series of planned attacks, foiled kidnappings and recovered weapons in multiple flashpoints across the North Central. In the North East, soldiers of Operation Hadin Kai and other formations repelled Boko Haram and ISWAP assaults, neutralised terrorists, defused IEDs and disrupted logistics networks. Similar operations in Sokoto, Kogi, Edo and Imo states destroyed camps, rescued civilians and arrested suspects. These actions underscore our troops’ dedication to defending communities nationwide. While challenges remain, their bravery deserves our appreciation rather than condemnation.

What impact do you think recent military rescues and arrests will have on local security perceptions across those regions?

I agree, these operations should boost locals' sense of safety, but long-term trust still needs consistent actions.

Absolutely! Those rescues and arrests will calm jitters and show communities there's real muscle keeping them safe.

It's notable that most reported successes come from areas with ongoing conflicts, but we rarely hear about follow-up measures or civilian impact assessments afterward.

I'm not convinced these headline figures fully capture the complexities on the ground or whether arrests always lead to lasting security improvements.

Local communities should establish dialogue channels with security forces to monitor operations and share firsthand information on risks and successes in real time.
