1 / 3

Nollywood star Lateef Adedimeji is celebrating after earning five nods at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards 2026. He scored two nominations in the Best Lead Actor category for Lisabi, along with Best Supporting Actor for Ginger and Red Circle, Best Indigenous Film for Lisabi, and Best Makeup. Reflecting on the recognition, Lateef said, “This is faith, hard work, and grace. Alhamdulillah. All these nominations are a win-win already.” He thanked Africa Magic for the honour and congratulated his fellow nominees. He also gave a shout-out to his wife, Mo Bimpe, celebrating their joint success once again. Looking back, Lateef recalled early struggles in the Yoruba movie industry—being told he’d fail within a year, doing free work when his own production stalled, and facing doubts along the way. Today, he sees every nomination as proof that perseverance pays off.

Impressive nods, but do these awards always honour true talent or just the most hyped projects?

Lateef's double lead actor nominations are notable, but the competition in those categories has been getting tougher every year.

All five nominations sound great, though awards don't always reflect true acting skill or audience impact.

To support indigenous film, maybe organize a local viewing party for Lisa and other nominated works this year.
