Akor Adams and Ejuke Shine as Lookman Misses Out on LaLiga African MVP Nominations
LaLiga has announced 20 nominees for the 2025/26 African MVP award. Ademola Lookman, despite an impressive debut at Atlético Madrid, was ineligible after joining late in the season. Two Nigerians earned nominations. Akor Adams leads Sevilla’s line with 11 goals, including one in a 4-1 win over Barcelona. Chidera Ejuke has been vital in Sevilla’s push for European places. Voting runs until 10 May 2026, combining fan polls across Sub-Saharan Africa and a panel of journalists. The winner will be unveiled in Lagos on 23 May. Nigerian fans can cast their votes for Adams or Ejuke.
