Disguised as Soldiers, Boko Haram Abducts NECO Students and Teacher in Borno
On Monday morning, suspected Boko Haram insurgents stormed Government Day Secondary School in Lassa, Askira/Uba LGA, Borno State, targeting candidates sitting the NECO practical exam. The attack began shortly after nearby soldiers left for a patrol, according to a security source in an interview with SaharaReporters. Villagers say the gunmen wore military and Forest Guard uniforms. They cordoned off the exam hall, abducted several students and the vice principal, and shot an examination officer in the neck. Most of the abducted students are female, and the exact number remains unknown. Residents now suspect a security lapse or possible conspiracy behind the timing of the patrol. Police and army units have launched a joint operation to pursue the attackers and rescue the victims.
