Charles Leclerc on His Nervous Proposal and Romantic First Date

Charles Leclerc on His Nervous Proposal and Romantic First Date — 1 of 6
1 / 6

Charles Leclerc admits that even F1’s high stakes couldn’t prepare him for popping the question. He shared on a recent Italian podcast how he went speechless when proposing to long-time partner Alexandra Saint Mleux. The Ferrari star said he speaks on TV every day, but lost all his words when asking Alexandra to marry him. The couple later celebrated with a private civil ceremony, arriving in a rare 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa as their getaway car. Leclerc and Alexandra grew up knowing each other in Monaco, but their first official date in Paris felt like a dream. Both food lovers, they chose an Italian restaurant for sushi and pasta. He laughs that he might have been too in love to recall exactly what they ordered. Alexandra, once an art history student and now a fashion icon, has been by Leclerc’s side through every race weekend. He remains focused on his quest for a maiden championship this season.

What would you say if you went speechless proposing on live podcast, just like Charles did?

Absolutely, nerves can catch anyone off guard in a big moment like that.

Absolutely—I'd turn red, stutter about how much you mean to me, then blurt out a sincere 'Marry me?'

I thought someone used to live broadcasts would be more composed when popping the question.

Pressure of racing may be different from personal moments; being used to interviews doesn't guarantee calm during a proposal.

If you ever freeze during an important moment like that, take a deep breath and focus on what truly matters: the person you love.
