Lagos Court Sentences Adegbite Solomon to 15 Years for Tramadol Trafficking
The Federal High Court in Lagos has handed serial trafficker Adegbite Solomon a 15-year jail term without an option of fine. He pleaded guilty to a 15-count charge brought by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for smuggling 1.30 kg of Tramadol 225 mg. NDLEA counsel Juliana Imaobong Iroabuchi presented evidence, including exhibits from operative Okay Emmanuel, linking Solomon to the offence. This marked his third arrest for drug-related crimes. Solomon was intercepted at Murtala Mohammed International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Italy. He had concealed the narcotic in a winter jacket to evade detection. Defence counsel Augustine Nwagu pleaded for leniency, citing his client’s dependents and remorse. Justice Musa Kakaki rejected the request for a fine and imposed varying terms across the counts, the longest being 15 years on multiple charges. The court also ordered the forfeiture of Solomon’s Italian resident permit, pharmacy bank accounts, mobile phone and Nigerian passport to the Federal Government.
