Ogun to Audit Electricity Use in Bid to Curb Theft and Boost Supply

Ogun to Audit Electricity Use in Bid to Curb Theft and Boost Supply

Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has announced a statewide electricity consumption audit to assess Ogun State’s actual power needs. He made this reveal during an unscheduled visit to the 4MW gas-fired Independent Power Plant in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. The audit will monitor generation and distribution, identify leakages, wastage, and energy theft, and ensure no part of the state is underserved. Abiodun highlighted that expanding the 34MW Onijaganjangan plant and upgrading distribution infrastructure are key to achieving stable, affordable power. He also inaugurated the Ogun State Electricity Regulatory Commission to oversee local power activities. According to the governor, these investments aim to make Ogun the top industrial destination in Nigeria with guaranteed 24-hour electricity at competitive rates.

With a full audit, we'd see clearer billing, deter theft, and more reliable power delivery across Ogun state.

The governor's surprise visit highlights power supply issues, yet previous audits often fell short of reducing blackouts.
