Commonwealth Games 2026: Team Nigeria Medalists to Earn Up to $5,000 Instant Bonus
Ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the National Sports Commission has unveiled a generous welfare package for Team Nigeria. Each athlete and official received ₦250,000 to cover travel to the national camp, with a further ₦250,000 on approval for return flights after the Games. Daily allowances have been boosted to ₦5,000 for athletes and ₦7,500 for officials at local camps. In overseas training, athletes now earn $150 per day and coaches $200, with most payments already completed. Competition rates for Glasgow will rise to $200 per day for athletes and $250 for coaches. Medalists will enjoy instant cash rewards of $5,000 for gold, $3,000 for silver and $2,000 for bronze, all paid directly into their accounts. Team Nigeria will also receive upgraded Puma competition kits and President Tinubu plans to host all medal winners in Abuja to celebrate their achievements.
