Alex Barber Denies Deportation, Accuses Tinubu Government of Lying

American missionary Alex Barber has strongly denied claims by the Nigerian government that he was deported, calling the allegations false and misleading. He challenged authorities to produce any official deportation letter or embassy notification. Barber said security agents accompanied him throughout his mission and no flight or embassy communication indicated his removal. Barber specifically faulted Abiodun Essiet, Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement, for spreading “direct lies” and attempting to mislead both Nigerians and the international community. Essiet had previously claimed Barber was expelled after a speech in Jos linked to unrest. Both Barber and the US Embassy insist no deportation took place, raising questions about the accuracy of the government’s position.

What evidence can either side present to prove whether Alex Barber was deported or not?

I agree, getting official immigration papers or press release from relevant agency will clear up his deportation status.

Are there any official immigration statements or court records we can check to confirm his status?

It's unusual for a government to deny issuing documents yet claim strict enforcement without any paper trail.

I'm not convinced Barber's request for paperwork automatically means the government is lying or misleading citizens.

Instead of relying on statements alone, community members should call local representatives or check embassy channels for official confirmation.
